A well known home of northern Parke County, Indiana near the county line was known as the George Liindley farm. Here Geoge M. and his wife, Sarah Woody Lindley built their home and reared thier family of six boys and four girls. Herbert S. was the first of 10 ch and was born November 11, 1863 and quietly departed this life Dec 2, 1950. On Nov 20, 1884, Herbert was married to Margaret C. Pithoud and they went to housekeeping on a farm near the one of his father's and on which they lived until they retired from farming. Their home was opened to those who needed in and every kindness shown to them. About 30 years ago they moved to Kingman where he has lived the remainder of his life. 17 years ago last October his faithful companion was claimed by death. For more than a year and a half he has been grately impaired in health but it was not until just a few days ago that he became critical. He was reared in a Christian home and in that home he was taught lessons of honesty and integrity also lessons of industry and economy which characterized his life. Of the immediate family surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mary Glascock and Mrs. Rose Moffett of Covington; Samuel H. of Kingman and Paul of Milan, Ohio

Herbert Lindley, 85, retired Parke County Farmer died at his home in Kingman about 4 o'clock Saturday evening. He had been in failing health for some time. Mr. Lindley was born in Parke County in 1865, the son of George and Sarah h Woody Lindley. He farmed most of his life and upon retirement a number of years ago, moved to Kingman. He was married to Margaret Pithoud who died in 1933. Surviving are two brothers, Samuel of Kingman and Paul of Milan O and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Glascock wife of Troy C. Glascock and Mrs. Rose Moffet wife of Gordon both of Covington and many other relatives. He was a member of the Friends Church of Kingman and of the Knights of Pythias. Funeral services were held on Mondday morning at 10:30 o'clock in the Methodist Church in Kingman conducted by Rev. Edward Woodard.
